Kindergarten Reading Essential Outcomes

1. All students will produce 26/26 letter sounds (hard consonants and short vowel sounds) by the end of the school year as assessed by the district report card checklist.

2. By the end of the year, 100% of kindergarten students will identify and name 26/26 uppercase letters as assessed by the district report card checklist.

3. By the end of the year, 100% of kindergarten students will identify and name 26/26 lower case letters as assessed by a district report card checklist.

4. By the end of the year, 100% of kindergarten students will be able to read 40/40 sight words as assessed by the district report card checklist.

5. All students will demonstrate knowledge of sound-symbol relationship by reading consonant-vowel-consonant words at a score of 25 or above on the Dibels Nonsense Word Fluency assessment by the end of the year.

6. By the end of the year, 100% of kindergarten students will listen to and understand the meaning of text as measured by the Scott Foresman Benchmark Listening Comprehension test and/or written response.
