3rd Grade Projects
In this gallery you will be able to view examples of third grade artwork.
Students first created a printing plate by carving into a piece of malleable foam. Then, each student created a backing paper to print on by rubbing chalk or oil pastels on a sheet of colored constructions paper. Students were instructed to make their colors expressive. For example, putting red and orange pastel on black paper would look angry whereas blue and green on purple paper would look calm. After finishing their expressive backing paper each student completed a printing process to create four prints of their plate on their paper, with parts fo their expressive background shownig through.

Third grade students have recently copleted a project in which they learned the differences between Warm and Cool colors as well as Geometric and Freeform shapes. We also discussed how space could be divided through the use of line and how to shade shapes to make them appear more 3D. Students created a project using colored paper displaying their new knowledge.
