Reading- We are doing Action 100.  We read independently for 2 steps, or 30 minutes daily. Students will also be reading 2-steps at home every night as well.  We also do a whole group reading program called C.I.A.

MATH- We continue to use the  “Everyday Math” series. Students usually have a home-link (math worksheet) every night.  Please have basic fact practice be part of everyday homework. (5 minutes a day will really help.) Your child may bring home their Student Reference Book to assist in these assignments. Please keep a book cover on the S.R.B. 

DISCIPLINE POLICY-In my classroom we reward positive actions with stars. Students collect stars and then are able to purchase rewards at our star store every 2 weeks or so. Students receive a “three strikes & you’re out” in our classroom by changing cards for inappropriate behavior. Please refer to the student handbook for a complete description of the school’s use Level 1 and Level 2 reports.

SNACKS- Snacks are important. We need them to help us keep our energy and focus. I have a healthy snack policy, and our district also has a wellness policy. I allow students to bring one, healthy, single-serving snack per day. They can enjoy this when they choose. Examples of good snacks:  Fruit, veggies, yogurt, crackers, animal crackers, fruit snacks.   Please, no chips, cookies, cake or candy.   

Birthday Treats-If you choose to send a birthday treat for your child’s birthday it must be single serving store-bought treat.  Please NO cakes or cookie cakes.  These are hard to cut equally and take up too much time to serve.
